Would You Like Some Sugar With That?

He pulled the chair for her, like a prince charming of a twelve year old would.
She smiled, for a part of her childhood fears vanished into the thin air. People had told her, there are no prince charming or knights in shining armors. But that was not what had always worried her. Because she longed for not a man who would come to save her soul.. She longed not for someone who would rescue her and take her to a castle of comfort and luxury.
She was a rebellion at heart. She wanted more.
She wanted to ride the horse with a man who would mirror her fantasies without deeming them unfit for reasons that are mere tributes to the duties a woman is bound to deliver.
She wanted the fear, the pain, and with it she wanted someone’s certainty to rest with her.
So what she was worried about was not of the absence of prince charming and knights..
She longed to uncover what it was that would make her truly satisfied. She wanted to discover the eccentricities that she had now, for so long, restrained. She was worried about the uncertainty of happy endings.
Especially the kind of happy that she wanted wasn't something easy to find.

He smiled at her. And the waiter took the order. Two cups of tea .

I don’t think you would want to be with me.” He said.

His voice carried a certain level of distrust and starkness.
She pulled at some imaginary creases on her dress. Her eyes trailed at his well-polished shoes. She smiled. That’s the way she wanted her father to keep his shoes, which he never would.

It wasn't much of a conversation till then, So the waiter was a welcomed guest, who left in a moment’s time.
“How many ?” He asked her.
His fingers glided on the edges of the cup that carried a couple of sugar cubes.
Two.” And he proceeded.

It was as sweet as she wanted and he couldn't care less about sweetness. The bitter buds on his tongue tingled and rejoiced, as the tea caressed his lips.

I might not always want to comfort you.”
He kept the cup down and explained, with swift movements of his left hand, signalling towards an unmindful couple in another corner of the cafe’ .

I think I want you.” She said.

There were no sugar cubes in her tea, that day on.
But she did have a happy ending.
