Thornless

So for a brief moment
My heart raced
At the speed of light

My hands trembled
To touch anything
That was
In even distant ways
Possibly something related to you

I cant cry for what we've become
My grief is limited
But my heart dies
A thousand little deaths
As I realise
Nothing at all,
Was as special
As it seemed to me to be

Funny thing, flowers.
Such a tiny little bunch
Of something you didn't even pluck
All by yourself
Something you bought
Bribery for beauty as they say
It's so sad
something so little
Tiny flowers
Not even roses
Just some dandelions and lilacs and lilies
Without thorns
Can prick into my soul
So deep.
Wound me in exceptional ways
And make me bleed
Just a little more.
Tonight.
